Boston College – Completely free

Tufts University – Typically $0–$10 per session
Boston University – Typically $5–$10 per session
Harvard University – First 8 sessions are free; then about $35 per session

Yes. We are in-network with the following plans:
Aetna Student Health Plan
Tufts University Student Resources Plan
Boston College Student Resources Plan
Blue Cross Blue Shield
Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare
Tufts Health Plan (commercial plans)
Even if we're not in-network with your insurance plan (e.g., Cigna, Optum, Beacon, Meritain, or United Healthcare), you may still be able to receive partial reimbursement for sessions through your out-of-network benefits. Many clients are reimbursed 40%–60% of the session cost.
We'll provide you with a monthly superbill (a detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
To find out what your plan covers, contact your insurance provider and ask:
Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
What is my deductible, and has it been met?
Is there a separate deductible for mental health services?
How many therapy sessions are covered per year?
Do I need pre-authorization or a referral from my primary care doctor?
How do I submit claims for reimbursement?
What is the allowable reimbursement amount for:
90791 – Initial diagnostic evaluation
90834 – 45-minute therapy session
90837 – 60-minute therapy session
We’re happy to walk you through this process to make it as simple as possible.
Our self-pay rate is $250 per session. Payment is due at the time of service via Stripe—a secure, encrypted, HIPAA-compliant platform.
Yes—wholeheartedly. At Intersect, we don’t just welcome your full identity—we honor it as essential to the work we do together.
We know that therapy doesn’t happen in a vacuum. The stress, pain, and disconnection many of us carry are often shaped by systems of oppression and exclusion. That’s why our approach is trauma-aware and rooted in cultural humility, recognizing that healing and liberation are deeply intertwined.
Whether you’re navigating identity questions, burnout, relationship dynamics, or the weight of simply existing in a world that wasn’t built with you in mind—we’re here to offer care that’s respectful, nonjudgmental, and attuned to your lived reality.
We bring an intersectional, anti-oppressive lens to our work, and we’re always learning. You won’t have to educate your therapist on what it means to hold multiple marginalized identities or to move through the world in a body or experience that’s often misunderstood. And if something feels off, we want to know—your voice matters here.
This is your space. And you get to show up as your full self.
You can schedule an appointment by completing the online form available here.
Yes—we offer secure, HIPAA-compliant teletherapy through SimplePractice. All sessions are conducted virtually and are available to clients located within Massachusetts only.
We do not offer in-person appointments at this time.
Your first session will last about 53 minutes and is designed to help your therapist begin getting to know you—not just your challenges, but your context, values, and what’s important to you.
We’ll talk about what led you to reach out, and explore areas like your personal background, health history, current school or work situation, and any goals or hopes you have for therapy. If you’ve experienced trauma or other difficult events, please know that you’re never expected to share anything before you’re ready. We move at your pace. Building trust takes time, and your comfort always comes first.
You don’t need to come prepared with all the answers, but here are a few questions you might reflect on beforehand if helpful:
What brings me to therapy now?
What feels most challenging in this season of my life?
What would I like to feel or experience differently?
What’s been helping me cope?
Are there things I’m doing (or not doing) that feel misaligned with what I need?
Your therapist will gently guide the conversation and help you feel grounded in the space. You won’t need to perform or “have it all figured out.” Therapy at Intersect is a space where you can begin to come home to yourself—one step, one story, one moment of insight at a time.
At the end of your session, you and your therapist will discuss how it felt to connect and what next steps might look like. If it feels like a good fit, you’ll set up your next appointment. If not, we’re always happy to support you in finding a clinician who feels like a better match. You deserve to feel seen and supported.
Our standard therapy sessions are 53 minutes long.
Most clients attend sessions once per week, which provides consistency and helps build momentum in the therapeutic process.
For clients who need more support—such as during times of acute stress or major life transitions—we also offer twice-weekly sessions, when clinically appropriate and requested.
Your therapist will work with you to determine the frequency that best supports your goals.
Absolutely. A strong therapeutic relationship is essential for meaningful progress. If at any point you feel that your therapist isn’t the right match for you, we encourage you to let us know. We’ll gladly help you connect with another clinician within our practice who may be a better fit for your needs, preferences, or goals. Your comfort and care come first.
We understand that life can be unpredictable. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice so that we can offer that time to someone else in need.
Cancellations or reschedules made with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged the full session fee, which is defined as the amount allowable by your insurance plan. Since that time is reserved specifically for you, we’re unable to fill it on short notice.
We truly appreciate your understanding and your commitment to the therapy process.
Your Rights and Protections Against Surprise Medical Bills
At Intersect Clinical Services, we believe in transparency and want you to feel informed and empowered in your care. When you receive emergency services or are unexpectedly treated by an out-of-network provider at an in-network facility, you are protected from surprise medical bills under federal law.
What is “balance billing” (sometimes called “surprise billing”)?
When you see a healthcare provider, you may owe certain out-of-pocket costs like a copay, coinsurance, or deductible. If you see someone out-of-network (a provider not contracted with your insurance), you may also be billed for the difference between what your plan pays and what the provider charges. This is called balance billing—and it's often higher than in-network costs.
Surprise billing happens when you don’t have control over who provides your care, like in emergencies or when you receive care at an in-network facility but are treated by an out-of-network provider.
You're protected from balance billing for:
1. Emergency Services If you have a medical emergency and receive care from an out-of-network provider or facility, you are only responsible for in-network cost-sharing amounts (copay, coinsurance, or deductible). You cannot be balance billed—even after you’re stable—unless you sign a written agreement giving up this protection.
2. Certain Services at In-Network Facilities Even at an in-network hospital or ambulatory surgical center, some providers may be out-of-network (e.g., anesthesiologists, radiologists, lab services). In these cases, you cannot be billed more than your in-network cost-share, unless you provide written consent to be balance billed.
You are never required to waive your protections or seek out-of-network care if in-network options are available.
Additional Protections
When balance billing isn’t allowed, you are protected in the following ways:
You only pay your in-network cost share (like a regular copay or deductible).
Your health plan pays any additional amount directly to the provider.
Emergency services must be covered without prior authorization.
Cost-sharing is based on in-network rates and shown in your Explanation of Benefits (EOB).
Any payments you make count toward your plan’s deductible and out-of-pocket maximum.
If You Believe You’ve Been Wrongly Billed
You have the right to dispute charges that violate these protections. For assistance:

What to Expect During Your First Appointment
Initial Session Overview
Your first session will be about 45 - 55 minutes. Your therapist will begin getting to know you: what brought you in, what’s going on in your life right now, and what support might look like for you. They will learn about your history, current stressors, or work/school context. There’s no rush to share more than you feel ready for. You’re in control of your story, and we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you.
Preparing For Your First Therapy Session
You don’t need to prep for your first session, but if it feels helpful, you can reflect on questions like:
What brought me here now? What’s been feeling tough? What do I hope might get better with support?
Your therapist will guide the conversation. Feel free to ask questions about their style - therapy works best when it feels like a good fit.
What Happens Next?
Before the session ends, you and your therapist will check in to see if it feels like a good fit. If it does, you’ll schedule your next appointment and continue the process together.
